How I met your mother: An Awesome Tale of Comedy, Friendship and Love

In the year 2005, a legendary comedy show, How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM) had aired for the first time ever and pretty fast it got a distinguished recognition among its audience because of its hilarious comedy, wholesome moments and amazing story telling. Over a decade, for nine seasons, the show conquered the hearts of it's audience as we, the audience, got to witness how Ted Mosby met the mother of his children. And how unexpected life can be.

Story telling on point

Something that sticks out like a sore thumb about this show is that the story telling proposition is very unorthodox. Throughout the series every scene shown is from the perspective of the protagonist Ted Mosby, who is telling his story to his children in the year 2023 about meeting their mother. This opened up the opportunity to bring up many memories, flashbacks and anecdotes. The show plays with memories and time which makes it unpredictable. Paired up with the humor the show is rewatchable many times. As a result of clever writing the interaction in between the characters is truly  on point.

The "Legen-wait for it-dary" characters

The fundamental pillar of this show focuses on friendship. The main characters are Ted Mosby, the hopeless romantic; Barney Stinson, the outrageous playboy; Robin, the strong and independent journalist and lastly Marshall and Lily, the ultimate married couple. All of these characters bring out the best and wild side out of each other.

Barney Stinson, played by Neil Patrick Harris, became a beloved character due to his ridiculous amusing behavior and many catchphrases like "suit up" and "legendary"! Not only humor but also the character development of Barney throughout the nine seasons is impeccable.

On the other hand, Marshall and Lily's journey is shown very nicely, how they go from being a new couple to becoming parents and everything in between. These two characters are very relatable with a large portion of audience. Meanwhile,  Robin struggles to find intimacy while struggling with her career but does not give up on either. The show really dives deep into your emotions and the chemistry between these main characters.

 The humor and emotion

The balance between the character's emotions and humor is really well balanced. Throughout the show with many twists and turns we can genuinely feel what the characters are going through. The episode where Marshall's father dies is one of the saddest moments in the show but the writers showcase it very realistically. The show also relies on Ted's love life and Barney's wild dating strategies the show does not lose it's grip on reality as Ted tries finding "The One".

The mother (the whole point of the show)

Tracy McConnell, the mother, was revealed to the audience in the last season of the show. This character's casting was on fleek as Cristin Milioti (the mother) played this character and captivated the audience's love and attention very quickly.

Even though this character is a fan favorite, the ending of the show is a shock to many. Most fans don't even want to believe the official ending shown is real. Few appreciated the unexpected twist of fate while others are very underwhelmed by the unreal ending. Although the ending was not preferred by many, most people prefer rewatching this show with their loved ones.
