Start of a new chapter in a different city
Moving to a new city is by far one of the interesting and challenging tasks of my life. To come into this conclusion of finally leaving my hometown I spent months thinking if I am ready to leave my city where I have many amazing people including my cousins, friends and most importantly my family. Dealing with these emotional feelings, I had no other choice but to adopt a somewhat cold-hearted approach for the greater good. I have been living by the quote, 'To gain something important, we have to lose something important, for a long time.
The starting of my journey was unexpected. I am coming from such an academic background where most of my friends has planned to move to different countries to complete their graduation and higher studies as soon as they finish their A-Levels leaving me as the only exception as my plan was different from theirs. One of the friends who is from the same friend group is my close friend and my childhood buddy. He introduced me to his other friend also got into the same university. This particularly boosted my motivation whereas before that I was feeling all left alone and changed the direction of my point of view.
Then came the hardest part of the task which is to find a roof over our head, meaning, a house where we can stay. It's truly difficult to find a house where good safety is ensured, a pleasant environment for studying, a reliable landlord who handles all household related problems, a neat and clean place, reasonable rent, a place fairly close to my university.Adding to that, we went through this phase in the worst possible time when the heatwave took place in the whole country. After giving our all and dealing with our exhaustion we finally found a house, meeting most of the demands we sought. In these entire time of hard work our bonding has become stronger than ever and surprisingly all four of us roommates became close friends within a snap.
After 2 months on this journey I have realised how badly I took my family for granted. They were the ones I used to be around most of the time. Whenever I was hungry I used ask my mother to serve me food. Now, we have to make it on our own. Furthermore, we have to clean our own clothes, where I can count the number of times I cleaned mine before this journey started. This also includes, cleaning the house and making our beds. But most importantly, throughout these tough times I learned to become responsible.
On the brighter side, I got to get introduced with many good people, which includes my neighbours and the friends I made in my university. Adding to this, a significant trait in the city people is that they are extremely kind and helpful. They provide help even when there is no need of it.These amazing characteristic warm the hearts and leaves a good impression to people like us who come from different districts. I learned many things from the various type of people I met, which includes raw market shopping, smooth bargaining, social norms etc. By time, I have gained many new skills which motivated me to keep on hustling.
My university provides students every study materials needed not only to pass the specified courses but also to score good marks in it. Besides this, there are different clubs for skill development where we get to learn many things which are outside our syllabus, preparing us for solving critical problems. Moreover, we are offered with basketball court, a decent field on the roof top where students can play football or just hang around, lay or rest and a badminton court. But many students face some problems and one of the popular ones is where the senior-year students dominate the playgrounds, ordering fellow juniors to leave, respectfully. Although this is one kind of inescapable paradox between seniors and juniors but there are many cases where good relationships between them are maintained nevertheless.
In conclusion, to me this whole journey was like a movie but in real life that I will never forget. I will definitely not regret my experience cause there was no stones unturned and it taught me more than anything ever could. If I had never started this journey, I would not know what great things I am capable of.
